After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

Chicago! Chi-Ci-Go! Chi-Town!

One of the things you could debate all day is the theory of nurture versus nature.  Do I put cottage cheese on everything because it is in my DNA, or is it because that is just how we did things in the Kampfe house (went from one hard to spell name to another).  Do I love being outdoors, active and playing sports cuz of nature or nurture?  We could argue both to be true for a lot of things in our lives.  If I had to put money on why being put on the spot to know my right from left is the most terrifying thing in the world, I would have to say “Nature” all the way!   That has got to be a condition I was born with right?  When someone yells from the back seat when I’m driving, “Turn left at the stop sign” and a huge wave of panic rushes over me because even when I make the “L” shape with my right and left hands on the steering wheel and both look like “Ls” you know this had to be something I was born with…or is it without?   On the contrary, I feel blessed to say that there was something that was definitely a result of “Nurture” in my life.

I caught the travel bug at a young age.  I had the most wonderful grandparents, Mimi and Papa, and they took our family travelling once a year.  By the time I was a freshman in college I had seen most of Europe from a cruise ship or tour bus…the cool way to see the world! haha!  I realize now that my need to travel at least once a year stems from this wonderful act of love my grandparents had for us, as well as their love to see the world.   My addiction to planning trips is not my fault.  It was the force of “Nurture”.   Matt will literally tell me that he has a Monday off and before his sentence has finished, I’m at the computer searching flight deals to anywhere.   Is it destiny or coincidence that our anniversary always falls on or near a holiday weekend in October when travel is cheaper?  Yes to both!  Regardless, it has become a tradition for us to take a trip to a place we have never been to celebrate our anniversary.  This year it was Chicago!  LOVE IT!  We walked pretty much the entire length of the coastal side of the city in one day.  It was amazing!  I never knew just how amazing the architecture was until we did the popular Architecture Boat Tour!  There is a river that runs through the city with huge buildings representing the times or the artist who built lining the water.  Each building has a story and a purpose.  It was awesome!  Could I live in Chicago?…yes…well on October 10th every year I could.  80 degrees and no humidity is hard to beat!  Don’t even get me started on the food!  I knew I married my soul mate when he proposed our next trip be a BBQ road trip across the country.  We ate deep dish pizza, a vienna hotdog Chicago style, and the famous Chicago style popcorn all 2 hours before our flight home as we had to get it all in!  It was a very memorable anniversary spent with friends and with the most amazing gift from God, my hubbers Matt.  Any ideas where we should go next year?  Just don’t say right or left 😉
