It was butterflies at first sight. Marika met Michael back in 2012 when she flew to Ohio from California to visit family. He was best friends with her Godbrother so he was always around. The first time she met him she knew immediately that he was someone special even though Michael does not recall that first meeting. haha! However, the 2nd day he vividly remembers meeting her because that is when he realized Marika was someone special too. They hung out every day of her trip and when she flew back home, Michael was left wondering if his strong feelings for her were reciprocated. Marika couldn’t stop thinking about him as well and reached out to him via Facebook. She invited him out to California expecting him to say ‘no’, but to her glorious surprise, he accepted her invite and they had a full week of dates together. Saying goodbye would be too hard after the amazing week together so they started dating long distance for the next FOUR years! People…that is a long time! This is such a testament to their love for each other and commitment to hold on to the hope that one day they would live in the same city. When the stars finally aligned, Michael drove out to Cali to be with his Girl. A year later, he planned an extravagant scavenger hunt from Marin to San Francisco with the final clue landing her at the Tulip Gardens by the beach. He was waiting for her on one knee with a gold ring and a very important question to ask. “Will you marry me?”
These two are clearly best friends and share a deep bond. They were a hoot to photograph and hang out with. I let couples choose their own route during engagement sessions. In other words, they can make the session anything they want it to be and these two chose the young, wild, and free route…my personal fave 🙂 . There was lots of twirling, jumping, laughing, splashing, and goofing. Loved every second of it!
