After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

It all began at the University of Michigan in their final year of college at an Indian cultural event.  Their was an immediate connection made. For the next 6 months they conveniently “bumped” into each other until Deepak had the courage to tell Ravali that he was into her.  Their first date kicked off with homeade pesto pasta followed by late night gelato…a treat they still enjoy eating together now.  Sadly, Deepak moved to Seattle, Wa after graduation and thus started ‘relationship torture’ also known as long distance dating…I was in that club too so I know how “fun” it can be!  A little east coast – west coast distance didn’t stop them from continuing to grow closer as they spent many nights on Skype or on the phone.  3 years later, Ravali moved to San Francisco and lessened the distance gap.  As fate would have it, 6 months later they would be in the same city again when Deepak followed her to the City by the Bay!  Yah for no more distance!  Just one short year later he proposed at their favorite winery, Artesa, and surprised her by inviting friends and family to help them celebrate!  Their story sums up the whole meaning of ‘Love is Patient’ and I can see it in the way they are together that they will never take each other’s presence for granted.  I am so happy for these two wonderful people and wish them the most amazing wedding celebrating in Michigan this year!

He first spotted her at a work meeting.  He was the Sacramento rep and she was the San Francisco rep for the same company so their encounter was destined to happen.  George knew instantly that Alexis was something special and although they had quickly become “work besties,” he spent the next year pursuing her.  Alexis wouldn’t go on a date with him because he was younger, lived too far away, and because they worked together.  When she finally did say yes to dating him, their first date couldn’t have been more perfect!  It started with a bouquet of flowers and a bag full of all her favorite candy and junk food (which he knew from their work meetings).  He then took her to their favorite Greek restaurant, Kokkari, and for the grand finale ended the date at a club where they hung out in the DJ booth all night, (which, duh, is the way to her heart)…but let’s be real, any date that starts with flowers and ends in a DJ booth will most likely lead to a proposal 🙂

If you don’t know this beautiful lady, then you probably know someone that does!  Why?  Cuz she is the type of person that is so easy to like and become besties with.  Alexis (aka Kach) and I go back all the way to high school when we went to rival high schools and played volleyball against each other.  They always beat us, but we didn’t make it easy…it still stings a little today!  We both ended up going to Cal Poly (woot woot!) and today have returned to our rival roots battling every year for the 1st place title in our Fantasy Football league.  Unfortunately Kach is about to secure the championship title for the 3rd time in like 8 years, which is obviously not ok! 😉

It is no wonder that such a beauty inside and out has found her perfect match in George.  A standup guy who makes you feel like you are instant friends from the word “hi!” It was so much fun getting to know him during the shoot and I can tell by the way he looks at her that he is completely smitten!  I was so honored to be able to do their engagement photos and wish them the most amazing wedding day ever! (Insert Super-Sad face that I am not available to shoot it)

It’s always good to make friends with the bartender, but if you are lucky, you may just snag him for life.  They were first introduced at one of my favorite bars in North Beach.  Popular for its popcorn, jukebox, and neighborly hole in the wall vibe that always makes you feel like you belong.  Where else?  North Star.  They became friends and hung out a few times, but Valentina was off to live in Italy.   The first time she came home for a visit was for her mom’s birthday and when she saw Billy again she began to see him in a new light.  An attractive light 🙂   Billy was super into her too, so they began talking to each other more frequently while she was abroad.  It wasn’t until he surprised Valentina’s family by flying her home for Columbus Day that the deal was sealed.  Being that her family is Italian, and I must add, owner’s of the most popular Italian restaurant in Little Italy, it was a HUGE deal to have the family together for this holiday!  That gesture not only won Valentina’s heart, but her families’ as well!

Now they are getting married in 3 short days and I couldn’t be more excited to be the one to capture it!  They are a beautiful couple and have an undeniable chemistry that makes my job so easy 🙂  We headed to Baker Beach in hopes of a spectacular sunset and being that is was the most gorgeous day of the year, that is exactly what we got! Stay tuned for pictures of this ‘bride and groom to be’ on their wedding day!

He woke up that morning wearing his favorite tie-dye shirt and jeans with couch hair to complete the look.  Jeff had buddies in San Francisco that he often hung out with and couch surfing was something he was all too familiar with.  It is never wise to pass up a free couch to crash on in San Francisco (granted you know the owners of said couch).  As he made his way to his car that morning, he spotted Her.  The Her.  It hit him like a ton of bricks.  Something to this day he cannot quite explain. He knew right away this girl would change his life forever. Kelly looked amazing in a business casual pencil skirt, no doubt on her way to work.  They could not have looked more different.  For Kelly, he was a tie-dye wearing couch surfer who needed to get his life together, but cute nonetheless…and somewhat interesting.  They said hello and made small talk for a few minutes and then went their separate ways.  Jeff knew he had to see her again and being that they had mutual friends, immediately started planning how he could causally “bump” into her again.  The next encounter was at a GoPro launch party at Great America.  They reconnected and started dancing to the live music. After an unforgettable time together they parted ways again. Keys.  She had his keys!  She was holding on to them in her purse!  He would have to see her again.  A classic move that works every time.  He returned to her place the next day to pick them up and they have been madly in love ever since.

I should have started by saying, “Grab some wine and popcorn cuz this story is better than anything you will find on Netflix tonight!”

These two are incredible!  Hearts of gold and just a blast to be around!  I can see it in the way they look at each other and hear it in the way they talk to each other.  I can tell they put each other’s needs first.  We had a blast together, along with their dog Bailey, walking the streets of North Beach where Kelly lived when they first met.  We then went to Baker Beach for sunset.  Such an incredible day amongst forecasted rain.  Here is a sample of our day together. Congrats Kelly & Jeff!
