After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

New to Washington DC, Shauna was filled with anticipation and hope for what her future held in this amazing city.  What she didn’t realize is that soon after moving there, she would meet the man who would change her life forever.  It all started on Saturday, March 24, 2012 when Shauna and some friends were warming their souls at an Irish whiskey & cigar restaurant called Jack Rose.
I think it is important to enter a Side Note here for single ladies:  Whiskey, Cigars, & food = best place EVER to meet an eligible bachelor.  End Side Note.
Not really even looking to meet anyone that night or even any time soon, Shauna couldn’t help but notice the tall, dark, and handsome guy across the bar.  With a little bit of liquid courage running through her veins, she went over to him and not knowing exactly what to do “accidentally” bumped into him.  As he turned to look, he was pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful girl standing next to him.  They immediately started chatting and found themselves lost in conversation for the next few hours.  There was definitely chemistry between them and Nick knew he had to see her again.  He got her number and called her the next day!  POINTS for Nick!  As they told me this story, he said that when you see something that is so wonderful you have to go after it.  He spent the next few weeks pursuing her with their first and second dates just a few days apart.  They have been inseparable ever since.  Two years later he sealed the deal and completely surprised her with a proposal! The Jack Rose holds a very special place in their lives and they sometimes find themselves back at there to relive that night when their lives changed forever.
I cannot tell you how amazing these two are!  They exude positive energy like a bright light and I could not be more honored that I get to photograph their wedding in June.  I absolutely love Shauna’s sister, who I went to Cal Poly with, and cannot wait to meet the rest of the family!  I had so much fun getting to know you both during our session and hope you enjoy this little teaser from our time at Palace of Fine Arts and Baker Beach.

On my drive home from Baker Beach, this view struck me and I HAD to pullover!  A view that never gets old or tired.

Studying abroad in college has its perks… new cultures, experiences that will last a life time, a resume builder, under age drinking, (you were all thinking it, so I might as well write it!) & for the lucky few, Love.  Jessy and Spencer came from different parts of the United States to Australia for their study abroad program.  They made life long friends and found in each other, a life long partner.  Like all people who meet in Australia, when you return home, you most likely return alone and with a longing for the other person that can only be satisfied by committing to a long distance relationship…and you do so…with an open heart because you know you have met your soulmate…the person you will go to the ends of the earth for. Boy, does their story sounds soooo familiar ;).  Like Matt & I, they looked distance in the face and dominated it!  It was all worth it, as they are now engaged and live in an awesome San Francisco apartment with the cutest dog ever!  We had a glorious Summer Day in San Francisco…and by glorious I mean foggy, cold, and without sun.  We made the best of it and had so much fun!

The view from their roof top!  Simply priceless!

Jessica is an ex gymnast, diver, ballet girl so we had some fun throwing her in the air!
