After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

I can honestly call this a dream wedding from start to finish. When I pulled up to the RU’s Farm property, I knew immediately that I was going to be extremely inspired all day. This venue has it ALL! A gorgeous barn with chandeliers, endless rows of vineyards, a majestic cork tree at the ceremony site, and outdoor dining beneath twinkle lights. But what made this wedding so dreamy was the amazing couple I got to photograph. They are so fun to be around especially since I can tell they have nothing but fun when they are together. It is no wonder their bridal party had me in stitches the whole day! I especially loved capturing the dance party in the barn as the live band, Cover Me Badd, had everyone on their feet all night. I am so excited to share these images with you all! Congrats Courtney & Andrew!!

Check out this gorgeous wedding on Fab You Bliss!

When you take an extremely awesome, fun loving couple like Beth & Jared and combine it with one of my all time favorite wedding venues, Olympia’s Valley Estate, you get a wedding that only dreams are made of!  From the moment I met these two I knew we were going to have a blast together!  I mean when a first meeting starts with Corona’s and tacos, forget about it.  It’s like you’ve won over my stomach and my heart all at once and the only thing that tops that is actually being fed tacos while I shoot your wedding.  When you first approach this estate you get goosebumps.  The lavender path leading to the charming home welcomes you with a fresh scent.  The sound of girls getting ready and the beats of the best play list ever fills the home with an infectious energy!  Beth looked absolutely stunning in her drop back lace dress and her shoes were to die for! Beth and Jared wanted to wait to see each other at the ceremony, but did a “first touch” which was so fun!  I could just sense the giddiness they both felt as soon as their hands met.  After the lake front ceremony, the reception took place in the beautiful barn with antique chandeliers, mirrors, and so much rustic charm!  Whenever there is a gathering at the barn, you know it is gonna be an experience that you will never forget!  Something about the setting makes for the best dance parties EVER!  Let’s just say, I didn’t want to leave! Before I give it all away, check out the story of their day below and don’t miss the delicious sunset that created an amber waves of gold in Beth’s hair.  Beth & Jared, I wish you the best and hope our paths cross again soon!

Most creative gift to date!  “I wanted to make the first ‘toast’ of the day!”

And these wine bottles each labeled with different ‘firsts’ as a married couple!  You open each bottle after your first baby, first fight, first big purchase, first dinner party, first anniversary, and first big trip!  The sentiment here speaks to me on so many levels!

It is always so exciting when one of my couples has their wedding featured on a wedding blog and today I am so proud to see Sophie & Ryan’s wedding on The Knot!  They created one of the most beautiful weddings with so many special details with the most Pinterest worthy detail being the gold little icons to represent the guest’s food choice!  They either had a gold pig, sand dollar, or carrot!  I absolutely LOVE Rancho Soquel for its gorgeous barn nestled amongst overgrown gardens.

To get your wedding inspiration cooking, check out their feature on The Knot HERE and the Blog featuring more details HERE.

It all started online…not what your thinking though.  The conversations they had back and forth from their computers were of the more serious type…work related.  It was like a modern day “You’ve Got Mail” situation with a twist…Ahhh, their story has me hoping it rains today so I can cuddle up to that movie and wish for the 90’s to come back.  Anyway, ‘Pinging’ someone from your desk if you had a quick request was the most efficient way of communicating.  Now I realize some people might be worried at this word “Ping” that I am using.  It is not some weird thing that young kids are doing these days…it’s just a way of sending a note to a coworker that pops up on their screen.  Totally safe, 100% professional…kinda.  Sophie, curious whose face belonged to these quick witted words that often popped up on her computer screen, looked Ryan up in the company directory.  There He was.  The face to the name that she would some years later take as her own.  Suddenly urgent business needs turned into just about any excuse to Ping each other.  She had to meet him…in person.  Luckily the company party rolled around and there they were together face to face for the first time with a room full of people.   They were hitting it off and the attraction for each other was growing.  They laughed and had moments where they looked into each other’s eyes and saw a future of…

WINE….Red Wine all over Ryan’s WHITE suit.  Someone had bumped Sophie and inevitably her wine flew out of her glass and found it’s new home on the whitest surface.  Obviously, Sophie immediately started to pat down Ryan with a cocktail napkin, (insert awkward moment number 2) but her efforts were lost as the moment was gone and the wine had made it’s lasting impression…and so had Sophie.

I laughed so hard I cried when I heard their story.  I will never forget it and will most likely tell it every time wine spills…Sorry guys 😉  Sophie and I were in the same Club (dare I say Sorority) in college and was a year behind me.  I always thought she was super stylish and funny, but never really got a chance to get to know the extent of all her awesomeness until her wedding.  She has an eye for details, a sense of humor that is priceless, and found a man that is just perfect for her.  I adore these two and found myself laughing behind the camera the whole night!  Congrats Sophie & Ryan!

Loved the nods to their shared love of sailing…in fact, instead of a Honeymoon they sailed the British Aisles with all their friends on a “Friend Moon”

I mean…these two are just a cup full of joy!

That moment you realize your brother/officiant is not joking when he tells you he does not have your wedding vows, and yes, you are going to have to wing it.
