After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

I am so excited to share this engagement shoot with you all!  We went to Pescadero, which is a super small town right on Highway 1 with a few stores, an amazing deli, and a creek running through it.  It also boasts several beautiful beaches and a lighthouse!  Shandra and Paul wanted to do their photos here specifically because this is the beach where he asked her to be his girlfriend 4 years ago!  It is also the first beach they ever took their daughter to!  We had an amazing time together mostly goofing off and getting to know each other.  The sunset was absolutely gorgeous and to top it off their anniversary was just a day away so of course champagne needed to be ‘Popped’ to appropriately celebrate!  It was such a fun evening hanging with these two! I am looking forward to Your big day!

>>–Stephanie+Nick-> Engaged!! San Francisco Engagement Session

It all started in law school at the University of Michigan.  Nick was good friends with two of Stephanie’s roommates and despite seeing him from time to time, it wasn’t until the spring of their 2nd year that a real connection was made.  Nick had taken his seat in a jurisdiction class and as people spilled in, Stephanie noticed a familiar (and super cute) face amongst the crowd and snagged the seat next to him. Stephanie quickly developed a crush and little did she know Nick was developing feelings too.  Among other things, he found her intelligence very attractive and thought it wouldn’t be so bad having this girl in the seat next to him for the rest of his life.  After a few weeks of (somewhat shamelessly) pursuing him, they shared their first kiss at a law review party, and the rest is history!  By the time they started dating, each had lined up jobs in different cities for after graduation — New York and San Francisco.  But they were committed to making it work 3,000 miles apart.  It wasn’t until last summer that Stephanie bought that one way ticket to San Francisco to bridge the gap in their distance so they could finally be in the same time zone.  After she took the California Bar Exam, Nick surprised her with a trip to Napa and took her to the same winery where she first told him, “I love you”.  This time he would one UP her and get on one knee to propose!

We had such a great time shooting in their neighborhood of Nob Hill and then going to one of Stephanie’s all time favorite spots, The Ferry Building!  Its waterfront beauty, cuisine, and energy are some of the reasons why Nick was able to convince her to move to the Bay Area…well, there was another big reason named Nick 😉  As the sun set, we made our way to the most romantic pier in SF and watched in awe as one of the most gorgeous days of the year transformed into one of the most magical sparkling nights the city has ever seen.

Rosheen and Chris are one of the first couples that I will be shooting a wedding for, so I was very excited when they agreed to do an engagement shoot so I could get to know them before the big day!  We did the session in Healdsburg, Ca at Asti Winery, Cellar #8 Tasting Room, where they will also be getting married.  The winery was beyond beautiful and the staff was just as accommodating.   The environment was so dynamic from an old train, to a mansion built in 1818 that I was overwhelmed with inspiration to the point where I couldn’t possibly get all the amazing shots that I had visions for.  They were so great to hang out with, being so flexible with my desire to try this and that.  They had fun loving each other and before no time, I think they forgot I was even there following them around like the paparazzi!  It is so obvious that this couple will live happily ever after, and I am so fortunate to be able to capture the beginning of a wonderful story!
