After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

It all began in 9th grade math class, which is a great place to develop a crush especially when everything else in class is not adding up. ūüėČ Despite this intrigue they had for each other, they ran in different circles until 12th grade. It wasn’t until they both happened to be on a bathroom break from math class (hmmm…I see a pattern here that IS adding up!) that they finally started chatting. That conversation led to many lunchtime Starbucks runs, which eventually led to Nikhil timidly asking Steph to prom!

After high school, they remained a dating duo despite going to undergraduate universities 10 hours apart, and then choosing different countries in which to live after graduation. It was a long road of extremely long distance dating, but eventually Steph moved to San Francisco to be with Nikhil. YAH! They then adopted a sweet puppy named Riley.

Exactly one year from Riley’s adoption, Nikhil suggested that they take a longer-than-usual walk at Fort Point with a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. While Nikhil was positioning Steph with Riley for a picture facing the GGB (in the spot pictured above), he dropped to a knee and when Steph turned back around, he asked her to marry him. Their story deserves a standing ovation for the bravery, endurance, patience and love they needed to bring together what was always destined to be. I cannot wait to capture their wedding!

Lauren and Mike are as native to the San Francisco Bay area as you can get! She was born and raised right in the city and Mike is from Marin. It was only fitting that we hit up some of SF’s most iconic and beautiful locations on their engagement session. We started at The Legion of Honor, then the Sutro Baths for a variety of woodsy and ocean shots and wrapped up at a great Golden Gate Bridge outlook location. These two are so easy going and genuinely kind that hanging out with them and taking their photos was a dream! I especially loved Lauren’s split leap in the air on a thin strip of the Sutro Baths cliff!

I was so thrilled when Jenna reached out about her wedding since I’d met her a year prior shooting her sister’s wedding. ¬†I love it when I get to photograph multiple events for a family. ¬†In a way I start to feel like part of the gang and it feels good both a photographer and a friend at a wedding. ¬†If anything stood out to me about Jenna and Mike when we first met, it was their undeniable love for each other. ¬†They exchanged snuggles and looks of admiration as they told me their love story, and I knew right then that they would be so easy to photograph. ¬†I was right! ¬†They go together like wine and cheese (yes please!) and were so comfortable with each other and the camera, that all I had to do was snap away!

When Jenna and Mike asked for my help on choosing an Engagement Session location, Fort Baker was the first place to come to mind! ¬†In my opinion, it is the forgotten Golden Gate Bridge viewing spot and yet it is such a spectacular location as you are almost under the bridge! ¬†But as San Francisco summers would have it, there was no bridge in site for our photo shoot! ¬†Darn you Karl! (what SFers named the fog) I am so glad the misty air and fog didn’t discourage them as it turned out to be a gorgeous day in its own right. ¬†We started at Fort Baker and took advantage of the textured walls and what little slice of the Golden Gate Bridge there was. ¬†It wasn’t until we got to the Marin Headlands where the fog really came to life and put to sleep everything within it’s reach. ¬†We couldn’t see more than a few yards in front of us and needless to say the bridge was nowhere to be seen. Regardless, we had a good time and made the most of Karl’s little shenanigans. ¬†Congrats Jenna & Mike!

It’s always good to make friends with the bartender, but if you are lucky, you may just snag him for life. ¬†They were first introduced at one of my favorite bars in North Beach. ¬†Popular for its popcorn, jukebox, and neighborly hole in the wall vibe¬†that always makes you feel like you belong. ¬†Where else? ¬†North Star. ¬†They became¬†friends and hung out a few times, but Valentina was off to live in Italy. ¬† The first time she came home for a visit was for her¬†mom’s birthday and when she saw Billy again she began to see him in a new light. ¬†An attractive light ūüôā ¬† Billy was super into her too, so they began talking to each other more frequently while she was abroad. ¬†It wasn’t until he surprised Valentina’s family by flying¬†her¬†home for Columbus Day that the deal was sealed. ¬†Being that her family is Italian, and I must add, owner’s of the most popular Italian restaurant in Little Italy, it was a HUGE deal to have the family together for this holiday! ¬†That gesture¬†not only won Valentina’s heart, but her families’ as well!

Now they are getting married in 3 short days and I couldn’t be more excited to be the one to capture it! ¬†They are a beautiful couple and have an undeniable chemistry that makes my job so easy ūüôā ¬†We headed to Baker Beach in hopes of a spectacular sunset¬†and being that is was the most gorgeous day of the year, that is exactly what we got! Stay tuned for pictures of this ‘bride and groom to be’ on their wedding day!
