After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

Kelly & Joel ~ Married!!! ~ {The Mountain Winery, Saratoga}

I never really considered myself an emotional person.  That is, until recently.  Something about being 30 has weakened my strength to hold back the flood gates.  It is not unusual for me to get that choked up feeling when the bride is walking down the aisle with her father.  I dreamed of my father walking […]

I never really considered myself an emotional person.  That is, until recently.  Something about being 30 has weakened my strength to hold back the flood gates.  It is not unusual for me to get that choked up feeling when the bride is walking down the aisle with her father.  I dreamed of my father walking me down the aisle my whole life and when it actually happened the moment couldn’t have been more perfect.  Kelly and Joel’s wedding however, brought out a whole new level of emotions for me that I have yet to display at a wedding.  I am not ashamed of it.  The amazing, pure, unconditional love that I witnessed throughout the day was such a blessing to be a part of.  The way Joel looks at Kelly and even speaks about her when she is not around should be the standard for what every woman deserves.  I wasn’t going into the “getting ready” shots expecting to cry.  But when Van from Ocean Blue Videography took a few minutes to ask Kelly what she loved about Joel the tears came.  Kelly was crying and I was in the corner of the room hiding my tears as she poured out her love for Joel.  I go

t to experience that same love all over again when Van asked Joel the same questions in his hotel room.  This time was the same, only Van was tearing up behind her video camera.  It was such a beautiful thing to experience and I know everyone who got to be there for those moments will always cherish them.  This is why I love my job.  I get to relive every couple’s unique and very special love story.

I have known Kelly since college.  She was a year ahead of me in school, but I remember always admiring her confidence, poise, and beauty.  I knew Kelly was going to make a gorgeous bride, but when I saw her for the first time in her dress I don’t think the word ‘gorgeous’ could have done her justice.  It is no wonder that tears came when Joel saw her for the first time walking down the aisle.  Congratulations Kelly and Joel!   And if you ever need a side gig, you could be bride and groom models!  Thanks again for giving me the great honor to capture your wedding day!

P.S.  If you have have the option to get a smoke machine for the dancing at your wedding, Do It!  That reception was AWESOME!

A special thanks to Wade, my second shooter, for all his awesome shots, taking care of the guys, and having an extra flash when mine broke right before the grand entrance!  I am now the proud owner of a backup flash!

Right before the kiss the minister said, “Joel, set the standard for how every woman should be kissed! You may kiss your bride!”  He nailed it! 😉

Their wedding was at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga!  Beautiful venue with amazing views of the valley below!

It is a magical thing when you can call someone your best friend of 14 years, and it is even more magical when that friendship ends in a life long commitment to each other through marriage.  That is just how it happened for Ida and Rudy.  They are each others’ soul mates which is so obvious when you are around them.  They were recently engaged officially a few months ago and I was so lucky to be there when Rudy gave Ida her beautiful antique inspired ring during their engagement session. There wedding was absolutely beautiful as it was a sunny day in Tildon Park where the Brazilian Room is located.  I just loved the lemons, birds, and honey details that went so well with the flowers and yellow umbrellas.  One of  my favorite parts about photographing this wedding was Ida’s smile!  She is so happy and her positive energy is infectious!  Here is a montage of the beautiful day.

Holy Smokes!! That’s all the comes to mind when I think of how smokin’  hott this couple is and how vibrant and comfortable they were in front of the camera!  It was one of the most colorful shoots I have ever done as we did a whirl wind tour of North Beach to the Golden Gate Bridge!  Not only were Sonia and Eric, the Bride and Groom to be, amazing to work with, but having one of San Francisco’s finest wedding photographers, Stephanie Secrest (http://secrestweddings.com/photography/) there to lead the way was such a gift!  We started our day on Sonia and Eric’s rooftop which had amazing views of the famous San Francisco skyline as well as views of Saint Peter and Paul, the cathedral they will marry in!  This same rooftop was where Eric also surprised Sonia by kneeling on one knee and asking for her hand in marriage!  So of course we had to relive that special moment!  After heading to some special spots in the heart of North Beach we headed to the Golden Gate bridge where we met yet another talented photographer, Edwin Borbon (edwinborbon.com)!  It was an amazing shoot from start to finish and I couldn’t be more happy with how the day went and how the pictures turned out!  Sonia and Eric only live a block away from me and I can already tell there will be many more fun times to come!
