After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

After 'I Do'

>>-Danielle + Matt–> Engaged!! Marin Headlands & Fort Baker Session

When a couple starts a session by saying they are awkward in front of cameras I automatically think to myself, “This is going to be the BEST shoot EVA!” That is not a sarcastic thought, but a genuine-super-excited thought. I translate that to, “We do not take ourselves too seriously and we totally trust you […]

When a couple starts a session by saying they are awkward in front of cameras I automatically think to myself, “This is going to be the BEST shoot EVA!” That is not a sarcastic thought, but a genuine-super-excited thought. I translate that to, “We do not take ourselves too seriously and we totally trust you to do your thang!” From the very 1st picture I took, I knew Danielle & Matt were gonna do great. They totally focused on each other, made each other laugh, and just had fun with every situation I put them in. They are a super cute couple and I love that they changed into something more comfortable for the 2nd look: Lulu Lemon attire! So I naturally made them do things that heels and tight jeans wouldn’t allow 🙂 I had a blast with these two taking them to all my favorite spots from Bonita Point Lighthouse to Fort Point. It was an epic day and I am so pumped for their wedding!

SO. MUCH. FUN hanging with these two during their engagement session! I knew they would be my type of people from our phone call over a year ago, and was super stoked that they were equally amazing to photograph! They both work in law enforcement and met at work. Andrew saw Courtney and thought she was super cute. He probably went through several different scenarios on how to ask his coworker out without it being too awkward. I think he came up with a great plan! He asked her if there was a day she wanted to take off that he could cover for her. She in turn filled out the request form with her number on it and put it in his mailbox. She must have thought he was cute too since she added her number to the form 🙂 He then took that opportunity to start calling her and eventually asked her out to dinner. My favorite part is that she showed up in sweatpants! Haha! What guy wouldn’t want a low maintenance girl after all? They hit it off and a few years later he took her to a secluded beach up north where they camped with their dog Bailey. Andrew brought the same meal they had on their first date (which is SUPER sweet that he remembered what they ordered!) and after he put out the food he got down on one knee and said “Will you?” I love that he was so nervous that his whole prepared proposal stopped after 2 words! Luckily she totally got what he was trying to accomplish and said “YES!”

The alarm went off at 5am on New Years Eve.  That must be a mistake, thought Jamie.  The 5am wake up call was no mistake however and was the start to so much more to come that day.  They had planned an early hike near Chrissy Field with their English Bulldog, Beverly, but when they talked about early, Jamie had no idea that Patrick was thinking sunrise-early.  He was so excited to propose that he couldn’t wait any longer and insisted on a sunrise hike.  When they arrived, Jamie couldn’t help but notice that Patrick was wearing not one, but 2 large winter jackets.  It seemed odd, but nothing about the day had been the norm so she just went with it.  When they reached their destination, Patrick got down and one knee, reached into his inner jacket’s pocket where the ring box was safely disguised by the bulk of the outer jacket (brilliant if you ask me!), and with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background asked her to be his wife.  She said, “YES!” and the rest is history!

We had so much fun hitting up some of San Francisco’s most breathtaking spots from California’s scenic cable car line to the Marin Headlands.  Jamie looked amazing in her canary yellow dress!  I love how if popped amongst the urban setting! And of course let’s not forget the other lady of the day, Beverly, who looked adorable in her pink and white seersucker harness.  Jamie and Patrick are a joy to be around and I am so excited for their big day this summer!

They met the old fashioned way…a blind date…organized not by a computer, but you know, a person.  You’re probably wondering if their courtship was then followed by hand written letters mailed to one another?  No, but the way their story developed was just perfect.  Kelly’s brother in law decided to play Cupid and gave his good friend, George, her number.   Her brother in Law was a good guy and probably had great friends, she thought to herself as she nervously got ready for her first blind date.  As the date unfolded they found that they had a lot in common, but neither one was seeing wedding bells…yet.  A week later they went on date #2 and before they knew it, date #2 turned into 9 dates in 2 weeks.  They explored new restaurants, the outdoors, and most importantly discovered that there was more than a great friendship developing.  3 months later, as Kelly describes it, George was in love.  I get to witness a lot of things in front of my camera & there is no denying that Wednesday night, my camera & I witnessed 2 friends deeply in love.  Most importantly, it was obvious they truly liked each other too!  Some might argue, (my brother, who is getting married in 8 days, for instance) that the latter is just as important Love.  One thing is for sure, Mother Nature blessed us with a gorgeous day filled with golden light, bridges, and a family of deer.  Thanks and wishing you both an amazing wedding day November 4, 2014 in Hawaii!! The shadowy haze of the golden sun was just out of this world.

Oh Deer!

Jumping side hip bump obviously!  When you rule at life, why not?
