After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

It all started in law school at the University of Michigan.  Nick was good friends with two of Stephanie’s roommates and despite seeing him from time to time, it wasn’t until the spring of their 2nd year that a real connection was made.  Nick had taken his seat in a jurisdiction class and as people spilled in, Stephanie noticed a familiar (and super cute) face amongst the crowd and snagged the seat next to him. Stephanie quickly developed a crush and little did she know Nick was developing feelings too.  Among other things, he found her intelligence very attractive and thought it wouldn’t be so bad having this girl in the seat next to him for the rest of his life.  After a few weeks of (somewhat shamelessly) pursuing him, they shared their first kiss at a law review party, and the rest is history!  By the time they started dating, each had lined up jobs in different cities for after graduation — New York and San Francisco.  But they were committed to making it work 3,000 miles apart.  It wasn’t until last summer that Stephanie bought that one way ticket to San Francisco to bridge the gap in their distance so they could finally be in the same time zone.  After she took the California Bar Exam, Nick surprised her with a trip to Napa and took her to the same winery where she first told him, “I love you”.  This time he would one UP her and get on one knee to propose!

We had such a great time shooting in their neighborhood of Nob Hill and then going to one of Stephanie’s all time favorite spots, The Ferry Building!  Its waterfront beauty, cuisine, and energy are some of the reasons why Nick was able to convince her to move to the Bay Area…well, there was another big reason named Nick ūüėČ  As the sun set, we made our way to the most romantic pier in SF and watched in awe as one of the most gorgeous days of the year transformed into one of the most magical sparkling nights the city has ever seen.

The alarm went off at 5am on New Years Eve. ¬†That must be a mistake, thought Jamie. ¬†The 5am wake up call was no mistake however and¬†was the start to so much more to come that day. ¬†They had planned an early hike near¬†Chrissy Field with their English Bulldog, Beverly, but when they talked about early, Jamie had no idea that Patrick was thinking sunrise-early. ¬†He was so excited to propose that he couldn’t wait any longer and insisted on a sunrise hike.¬†¬†When they arrived, Jamie couldn’t help but notice that Patrick was wearing not one, but 2 large winter jackets. ¬†It seemed odd, but nothing about the day had been the norm so she just went with it. ¬†When they reached their destination, Patrick got down and one knee, reached into his inner jacket’s pocket where the ring box was safely disguised by the bulk of the outer¬†jacket (brilliant if you ask me!), and with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background asked her to be his wife. ¬†She said, “YES!” and the rest is history!

We had so much fun hitting up some of San Francisco’s most breathtaking spots from California’s scenic cable car line to the Marin Headlands. ¬†Jamie looked amazing in her canary yellow dress! ¬†I love how if popped amongst the urban setting! And of course let’s not forget the other lady of the day, Beverly, who looked adorable in her pink and white seersucker harness. ¬†Jamie and Patrick¬†are a joy to be around and I am so excited for their big day this summer!
