After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

Shirley & David go way back.  So far back, that seeing each other as ever being more than friends while attending the same church growing up seemed crazy.  It wasn’t until David had left for college and come back to that same church years later that he noticed Shirley as someone he wanted to get to know as more than friends.  Like every great love story David pursued Shirley.  She politely declined each time he made an attempt to take her out.  She was not quite sure she was ready to dip her toes into the dating pool just yet.  It wasn’t until he invited her to go on an annual Horn Blower Cruise around the bay with his friends that Shirley accepted the offer.  They learned a lot about each other on a more personal level and immediately knew they had a strong bond that would never be broken.  That was the last time Shirley would politely turn down David because when he got down on one knee in front of family, friends, and strangers on stage at a Christmas Ballet performance, she said, “Yes!”  Their proposal story brought me to tears as they sat closely next to each other taking turns filling in the details of that perfect night.  It was a proposal from her best friend; a man made just for her by Him.

I personally fell in love with this couple from the very first email I received from them.  Shirley signed her email to me, “In His Love, Shirley” which I LOVED!  It is also the theme around their wedding day!  Shirley and David put together the most inspiring engagement session complete with food trucks, cupcakes and a Pinterest worthy picnic!  Their energy, beautiful smiles and playfulness toward each other was so fun to capture!

Love, Love LOVE the details that Shirley planned for their picnic filled with bubbles, treats, books and special nods to the BIG day!

It was a “Match” made in heaven and I think they both realized it after their first blind date at First Crush in Union Square in San Francisco.  Appropriate name for a first date wine bar 🙂  Drinks are always a good non committal first date spot cuz you can always bail after your first drink if it turns out your date reminds you too much of your brother, but for Kristin and Kjell drinks went so well that dinner came next at a nearby restaurant.  After meeting them, it is clear that not only do they love each other deeply, but they share so many of the same passions.  Golfing, biking, snowboarding, hiking, baseball and most recently sprinting are just a few things they love.   I like that about them!  They love to stay active and more importantly love to be active together!  They brought along their beautiful dog Scando for some photos and I think the highlight for me and everyone on the beach was watching Scando bee line it for the water and watch Kjell sprint like a bat out of hell for a good 50 yards to catch her.  Cheers broke out all around us when Kjell was victorious in catching Scando.  Wiped off his brow and he was back in the game ready for more photos!

We had a blast hitting up Ocean Beach, The Windmill, and the ruins of an old castle up on a hill overlooking the ocean.  Looking forward to the wedding… and hopefully there will be less sprinting involved 😉
