After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

It all began in 9th grade math class, which is a great place to develop a crush especially when everything else in class is not adding up. ūüėČ Despite this intrigue they had for each other, they ran in different circles until 12th grade. It wasn’t until they both happened to be on a bathroom break from math class (hmmm…I see a pattern here that IS adding up!) that they finally started chatting. That conversation led to many lunchtime Starbucks runs, which eventually led to Nikhil timidly asking Steph to prom!

After high school, they remained a dating duo despite going to undergraduate universities 10 hours apart, and then choosing different countries in which to live after graduation. It was a long road of extremely long distance dating, but eventually Steph moved to San Francisco to be with Nikhil. YAH! They then adopted a sweet puppy named Riley.

Exactly one year from Riley’s adoption, Nikhil suggested that they take a longer-than-usual walk at Fort Point with a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge. While Nikhil was positioning Steph with Riley for a picture facing the GGB (in the spot pictured above), he dropped to a knee and when Steph turned back around, he asked her to marry him. Their story deserves a standing ovation for the bravery, endurance, patience and love they needed to bring together what was always destined to be. I cannot wait to capture their wedding!

I absolutely love these two! ¬†They balance each other out like vodka and a dill pickle (a little trick I learned from Sasha that I plan on trying tomorrow!)¬† Sasha is a like a firecracker on the 4th of July…full of so much color and vibrancy for life! ¬†Everything she says cracks me up¬†and¬†she is the type of person that everyone could be best friends with. ¬†And Greg has a genuine way about him¬†and a calmness that makes you feel at ease. ¬†In the few hours I spent with them I could see how deeply in love they are and the selfless love He has for Sasha. ¬†They are so completely perfect together¬†and I am beyond excited that I get to be the one to capture all these special moments!¬†¬†Sasha and Greg¬†met at work in San Francisco and since this is where their love story began, they wanted to do their engagement shoot at¬†some of SF’s best spots! ¬†Because¬†they live in the gorgeous neighborhood of Nob Hill, we started the session right outside the iconic Fairmont Hotel where there are sweeping views of downtown and trolly cars at every corner. ¬†Sasha and Greg looked smashing in their semi-formal attire! ¬†They literally looked like they walked right out of a magazine spread. ¬†Her lipstick-red heels were pretty much to die for and added a fun pop of color amongst the¬†urban backdrop. ¬†We then went to the Palace of Fine arts and Chrissy Field Beach where we got the most delicious golden light. We ended the session right outside my door for a night shot of the downtown sky line. ¬†It was an awesome day and I can’t wait for their wedding!

No one was hurt in the making of this photo ūüôā

I had such a good time with Yina & Eyal and their dog at their San Francisco Engagement session! We started at the Palace of Fine Arts where we walked around and took advantage of the gorgeous sun that was shining through the Grecian arches. √ā¬†We then went across the street to Chrissy Fields Beach and despite having no sun and lots of wind there was lots of fun to be had! √ā¬†They are such a sweet couple and I can tell they make each other so happy! √ā¬†It’s gonna be a lot of fun hanging out with these two again for their wedding in October here in SF!

New to Washington DC, Shauna was filled with anticipation and hope for what her future held in this amazing city. √ā¬†What she didn’t realize is that soon after moving there, she would meet the man who would change her life forever. √ā¬†It all started on Saturday, March 24, 2012 when Shauna and some friends were warming their souls√ā¬†at an Irish whiskey & cigar restaurant called Jack Rose.
I think it is important to enter a Side Note here for single ladies: √ā¬†Whiskey, Cigars, & food = best place EVER√ā¬†to meet an eligible bachelor. √ā¬†End Side Note.
Not really even looking to meet anyone that night or even any time soon, Shauna couldn’t help but notice the tall, dark, and handsome guy across the bar. √ā¬†With a little bit of liquid courage running through her veins, she went over to him and not knowing exactly what to do “accidentally” bumped into him. √ā¬†As he turned to look, he was pleasantly surprised to see a beautiful girl standing next to him. √ā¬†They immediately started chatting and found themselves lost in conversation for the next few hours. √ā¬†There was definitely chemistry between them and Nick knew he had to see her again. √ā¬†He got her number and called her the next day! √ā¬†POINTS for Nick! √ā¬†As they told me this story, he said that when you see something that is so wonderful you have to go after it. √ā¬†He spent the next few weeks pursuing her with their first and second dates just a few days apart. √ā¬†They have been inseparable ever since. √ā¬†Two years later he sealed the deal and completely surprised her with a proposal! The Jack Rose holds a very special place in their lives and they sometimes find themselves back√ā¬†at there to√ā¬†relive that night when their lives changed forever.
I cannot tell you how amazing these two are! √ā¬†They exude positive energy like a bright light and I could not be more honored that I get to photograph their wedding in June. √ā¬†I absolutely love Shauna’s sister, who I went to Cal Poly with, and cannot wait to meet the rest of the family! √ā¬†I had so much fun getting to know you both during our session and hope you enjoy this little teaser√ā¬†from our time at Palace of Fine Arts and Baker Beach.

On my drive home from Baker Beach, this view struck me and I HAD to pullover! √ā¬†A view that never gets old or tired.
