After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

Lauren & Andrew were married on the beautiful property at Rancho Soquel in Capitola, Ca.  It was the perfect setting to create the bohemian garden wedding that Lauren envisioned.  The wedding party looked so chic in their bohemian white lace dresses and don’t even get me started on the flower girl dresses!  I am still searching for the dresses in my size!  Lauren’s dress was simply amazing.  Light, flawy, backless with a hint of leg!  Oh lala!  I just loved all my time working with Lauren and Andrew and can see why they are so popular with a 20 person bridal party! I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect wedding to start my season with!  Congrats you two!

AND…the Warriors bring home a victory for Lauren & Andrew!

Kellie & Dean are my kind of people!  They light up a room with their presence and infectious personalities.  Simply put:  You want to be their best friend and follow them around like a lost puppy because you know if they are doing it, it must be Ah-Mazing!  I was so completely honored to be invited to their wedding reception.  When I questioned the invite to such an intimate dinner, Dean said, “It’s important to us that you get to know our friends and family.”   They saw me for who I wanted to be for them, and all my couples…a friend, not just vendor at their wedding.  That was seriously the nicest gesture I had ever received & I will always cherish it.

They put so much love into every last detail of their wedding…and by love I mean blood, sweat and maybe even tears as they handmade all of the creative vignettes.  They wanted to create a welcoming and warm environment for their guests which was beautifully executed with the handmade freestanding doors for Kellie’s grand entrance.  Her entrance was spectacular, but I must say it was equally matched when she got carried through them at the end of the ceremony by her new husband!  At the end of the aisle was a mantle decorated with flowers, crates and candles.  You felt as if you were part of their home and family as you watched these two say their vows.  Throughout the property they continued the rustic homespun feel with a mint green bicycle displaying homemade jam, a mint green wheel barrel filled with beverages, and the cakes elegantly situated on top of vintage mint green tables.  The ambiance was perfect and I dove head first into it’s welcoming arms.  It was like a good movie that I never wanted to end…and like all good movies, there were happy tears and lots of laughter.  Congrats Kellie & Dean!

Out of the blue Dean jumps behind Kellie as she is showing me her garters!  Hilarious!

This is really a photo, not a dream come true…galloping horses and one of each color and pattern!?  It’s like a fairytale!

It all started online…not what your thinking though.  The conversations they had back and forth from their computers were of the more serious type…work related.  It was like a modern day “You’ve Got Mail” situation with a twist…Ahhh, their story has me hoping it rains today so I can cuddle up to that movie and wish for the 90’s to come back.  Anyway, ‘Pinging’ someone from your desk if you had a quick request was the most efficient way of communicating.  Now I realize some people might be worried at this word “Ping” that I am using.  It is not some weird thing that young kids are doing these days…it’s just a way of sending a note to a coworker that pops up on their screen.  Totally safe, 100% professional…kinda.  Sophie, curious whose face belonged to these quick witted words that often popped up on her computer screen, looked Ryan up in the company directory.  There He was.  The face to the name that she would some years later take as her own.  Suddenly urgent business needs turned into just about any excuse to Ping each other.  She had to meet him…in person.  Luckily the company party rolled around and there they were together face to face for the first time with a room full of people.   They were hitting it off and the attraction for each other was growing.  They laughed and had moments where they looked into each other’s eyes and saw a future of…

WINE….Red Wine all over Ryan’s WHITE suit.  Someone had bumped Sophie and inevitably her wine flew out of her glass and found it’s new home on the whitest surface.  Obviously, Sophie immediately started to pat down Ryan with a cocktail napkin, (insert awkward moment number 2) but her efforts were lost as the moment was gone and the wine had made it’s lasting impression…and so had Sophie.

I laughed so hard I cried when I heard their story.  I will never forget it and will most likely tell it every time wine spills…Sorry guys 😉  Sophie and I were in the same Club (dare I say Sorority) in college and was a year behind me.  I always thought she was super stylish and funny, but never really got a chance to get to know the extent of all her awesomeness until her wedding.  She has an eye for details, a sense of humor that is priceless, and found a man that is just perfect for her.  I adore these two and found myself laughing behind the camera the whole night!  Congrats Sophie & Ryan!

Loved the nods to their shared love of sailing…in fact, instead of a Honeymoon they sailed the British Aisles with all their friends on a “Friend Moon”

I mean…these two are just a cup full of joy!

That moment you realize your brother/officiant is not joking when he tells you he does not have your wedding vows, and yes, you are going to have to wing it.

Yah!  Their wedding is being featured right now on Wedding Wire!  Check it out HERE!

From the moment she walked into the party, he was intrigued.  Jenn walked into the room skeptical.  After all, why would she want to spend her weekend at a co-worker’s house party when she saw them enough as it was?  Aaron was hosting this get together and although he was one of her co-workers, they had never laid eyes on each other…until now.  Jenn was intrigued.  As the night progressed, ping pong balls flew (ok, starting to pick up a pattern…50% of my couples’ relationships start with Beer Pong!) and sparks flew to say the least. It wasn’t until Jenn got up to go to the bathroom that the night would get a whole lot better.  When she walked out, a hand grabbed her, pulled her in close. and before she knew it His lips on Hers.  It was the best first kiss, and the first and last time Aaron would ever pursue another girl.  She was going to be his bride.  His forever.

Their Wedding was a chart topper!  Pinterest would be jealous of every last detail.  From the gorgeous table settings to the Country Chic vignettes displayed throughout Rancho Soquel.  I was blown away by Jenn’s creativity and organization throughout the whole process.  She looked absolutely stunning in her dress and I just know that Aaron was blown away by her beauty too! I am so excited to share this wedding with You!  It was an honor and pleasure to be a part of Your Big Day!
