After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

It was soooo windy that anyone and everyone that owned a sailboat or kite board was out there catching the wind!  Nonetheless, it was gorgeous out!  Natalie & Itamar met in LA and due to work moved to this windy city to start a life together.  They are getting married this fall in Israel!  They are both Israeli and will no doubt have a beautiful celebration of their love with lots of family!

I loved their 50’s theme with the big red balloon!  We hit up one of my favorite spots in SF for some fun city shots!

She needed an escape from reality after a breakup and it just so happened her friend was heading to Bali…Perfect. Carolyn joined.  What started out as a relaxing getaway with friends in the most beautiful place ever, ended in the most unexpected way.  It was her last day of vacation so she decided she would spend it soaking up every last drop of sun by the pool.  She was probably getting lost in a good book, when something more intriguing entered the pool area.  A good looking man.  She was stealing glances his way as he swam in the pool. One of those glances caught his eye.  “Was she looking at me?” he thought?  If you have ever been single by a pool you know exactly those butterfly feelings that go through you when you play eye tag.  Carolyn, making the next most natural move got into the pool…it is Bali after all and one needs to cool off.  More importantly for Carolyn, it was her last day in Bali and like my husband always says, “Nothing ventured, nothing gained.”  Carl in the meantime was thinking, “Confirmed. She was looking at me!”  Conversation started between the two of them.  The day turned into evening and they were getting to know each other more and more with each passing hour.  They took a picture together and therefore needed to exchange contact information.  One glance, one smile, one dip in the pool, one photo set the stage for the start to something amazing.  He from Australia, she from California knew despite the distance they had to be together.  6 months later he moved here to be with her!  The chance meeting in a place worlds away from reality lead to each finding their Love.  I am thankful to be a small part of this amazing story!  Congrats to Carolyn and Carl!

That man coming in on the kite board at 50mph shows just how windy it was!  A huge high five to C & C for braving the extreme SF weather.

Shannon & Jon ~ Engaged! {San Francisco, Ca}

It was a safe place to meet and plus if she dug his chili they could continue the date by ordering a second latte at Starbucks…and who doesn’t love a little more coffee to get you chatting away on a first date.  It wasn’t exactly his idea to meet for coffee for his first date with the women of his dreams.  He had thought up a fun date…fun, that is, if you are coordinated with sharp blades strapped to your feet on slippery surfaces.  Yes, I think Shannon made a good call to postpone that date for later down the road, but hey if this was the fake world of dating like  “The Bachelor” Jon would probably look into the cameras after their ice skating date and say, “I think we can definitely get through any tough times now that we have conquered ice skating together.”  As it turns out Starbucks was the perfect first date!  They really got to know each other and no doubt they most likely stayed for a second latte 🙂

Shannon and Jon, like most couples started out a little camera shy…but let me tell you, it did not take long before they were absolutely amazing and so comfortable in front of the camera.  I can always tell when the camera kinda disappears cuz I get louder…Not sure how that really makes sense, but as soon as I realize that the “I don’t feel so weird having the paparazzi follow me around” has hit my couple, I turn into a loud mouth Chatty Cathy or Chatty Heather to be fair to all the Cathys out there.  Suddenly my use of descriptive adjectives start flowing out of my mouth like a thesaurus including every cousin of the words “awesome”, “gorgeous”, and “beautiful”. It’s like once I gain their trust and get them having fun, I shout things to bring more attention to them…totally a backwards approach to keeping trust.  😉  Somehow, it works because if you are a Rockstar, then you are a Rockstar and you are used to people shouting at you to “Work It”!  Let me tell you, Shannon and Jon were “working it” and seriously have Rockstar status in my head!  People even approached us on our session asking what we were doing and many were to shy to ask but I know that they were thinking, “this couple must be famous!”

We had a ton of fun at Fort Point in San Francisco, one of my FAVORITE places!  It was the perfect day to be there as it was chilly enough that it wasn’t crowded, but clear enough that the Bridge was out in all her glory!  They brought along there dog Copper as well!  He was soooo ready to hit the beach by the time we finished at Fort Point that we got him running around and having fun!  Here are a few of my favorites from our session!  Looking forward to photographing this rockstar couple’s wedding on Cinqo De Mayo!
