After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

I am so excited to share this wedding with you!  Nifer and Aaron were married after sunset at Kohl Mansion in Burlingame, Ca.  It was a traditional Jewish celebration in almost every sense of the word.  The ceremony began after sunset on a Saturday since Jewish weddings cannot take place on Shabbat. I always love documenting the hora and the stomping of the glass at the end of a ceremony, but I experienced new traditions that I enjoyed as well.  The Groom’s Tisch, which is a time for guests to gather around a table to sing, give toasts and hear a speech by the groom was great to be a part of.  The reception Hall was out-of-this world gorgeous!  Five foot tall centerpieces, chandeliers, candles, and dramatic lighting were just a few of the amazing details that gave this wedding a glamorous feel!  I have shot a lot of Jewish weddings and they are all so unique in their own way, but one thing that always remains constant is the fact they are ALWAYS the best party ever!  The reception was kicked off with the Hora, which I must add, am dying to be a part of someday…as in I want to hold hands and dance circles around the bride and groom then put them on a chair and throw them in the air.  Or more accurately I really just want to be tossed in the air 😉  Photographing it is pretty awesome too though! The energy in the room was electric!  I absolutely loved everything about this wedding and truly adore Nifer and Aaron…especially their humor.  These two are perfect for each other.  I pick up on so much as I document a wedding day, and one thing that stuck with me about this couple is how Aaron looks at Nifer with so much adoration and love.  Gave me goosebumps!  Congrats you two!

I am not the only one in love with these two, A Paper Proposal is featuring this shoot on their blog right now!  To see the full publication on click HERE.

As she got ready that day, Kristen knew there was a possibility that she might meet The Guy that her friend was dying to set her up with.  It was Oktoberfest in the city of Campbell and the thought of meeting someone she apparently would hit it off with on that beautiful afternoon, did not seem like the worst thing in the world to her. In fact, I’d argue there is no better place to break the ice with The Guy than at an Oktoberfest where good times are bound to show up and German beer is bound to go down.  The only thing is that The Guy who I will now call Nick, was not in the mood to go out after a long day of helping is mom move into a new place.  I totally get this, I mean moving is THE WORST thing in the world (to most people) unless you’re me and you absolutely LOVE it!  I can’t get into why right now as there is a love story that needs telling, but if you are interested you can always message me 🙂  Anyway, Nick’s friends told him there was This Girl, who we know to be Kristen, that he HAD to meet.  He was tired, but was intrigued by This Girl and decided he would meet them for dinner.  As they enjoyed the festivities together, The Guy and This Girl were hitting it off!  When the good times continued to the Saddle Rack for some dancing and who knows, maybe even a mechanical bull ride, they were beginning to realize there was an undeniable connection between them!  In fact, Nick knew right away that this was The Girl of his dreams and it didn’t take long for them both to realize they had met their Forever in each other.

This summer, their dreams will come true as they tie the knot!  I am so so excited to be a part of their wedding!  I absolutely LOVE these two!  They are genuinely beautiful on both the inside & outside. The session was held in San Jose in a field of bright yellow flowers.  It was the perfect place for their Country Chic E-Sesh! They brought antiques, a picnic set up, and their undeniable love for each other.  Not to mention the amazing dresses and boots that Kristen rocked!  I mean couldn’t these two pass for country music celebrities?! Thanks for a fun sesh! I loved every second of our time together!

It is rare that I meet a couple for the first time on their wedding day, but in this case, when I met Stacy and Takeo I felt like we had known each other for years! I think I felt a little too comfortable with them as their playful side really started to come out…especially when Take took his bride for a spin…literally.  The day was sunny and tropical and full of autumn colored leaves in the distance!  It was the perfect day for a wedding at Boundary Oaks Golf Course in Walnut Creek.  Meghan and I especially took a liking to the kiddos at the wedding who were dancing, sprawling, cuddling, and sneaking cupcakes.  I always keep my eyes on the munchkins during the wedding cuz you never know when they are gonna do something totally unexpected!

Congrats Stacy and Takeo!

Three amazing shots by Meghan Faith who I think (definitely) has a knack for capturing kids at their best!

There are days when I have withdrawal…not from alcohol, but from planning (anything), rearranging the living room, shopping, and most importantly people.  A wonderful couple comes into my life usually around July.  I get to know them, have fun with them on an engagement session, chat wedding details, then get to be a huge part of such an amazing day!  I am just head over heels excited to see the bride on her wedding day and I really feel so invested in all the excitement as if it were my own wedding.  Then Withdrawal sets in.  It is couples like Melissa and Travis that bring these feelings.  They are such beautiful people inside and out and I just know that I am gonna need to do some sort of follow up photography session with them just as an excuse to see them again! I have been dying to get this blog up cuz I know how Mel gets that feeling of Christmas morning when her pictures are ready!

I would also love to thank Hui Cheng with 555photography.com for his support, friendship and amazing talent!  This wedding was especially awesome because my close friend Janay Ailes was the wedding coordinator and did an amazing job with all the details and keeping the day right on track!  I just love working with awesome people!
