After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

I think Allison from the Knotty Bride said it all when she said Janay is a Triple Threat!  She is beautiful, so very talented and creative, and seriously one of my favorite people on this planet!  She rocks…just to sum it up!  So here is to Janay’s creativity and the talented people who worked so hard on all the details for making this wedding a Triple Feature!  Style Me Pretty jumped on it immediately and double featured it on the Etsy Blog, then The Knotty Bride wanted a piece of it too!  The wedding was perfect, and if I could do it all over again, I would have had it at Holland Ranch and rode a mechanical bull to finish up the night!  Party On!

All You Can Etsy Wedding {Janay & Rory} Holland Ranch ~ San Luis Obispo, Ca

“Who is this cute spin instructor my friends keep telling me about?” thought Janay.  Once again the name Rory had come up, and it was beginning to become quite apparent that she was the last of her friends to meet him.  He was in her best friend’s classes in college, worked at their gym, and most important lived with the bartender at Janay’s favorite bar, Bulls Tavern.  Janay and Rory were destined to meet, and that they did after college on October 20, 2005.  What better place to finally bump into each other than on a snowboard at the top of a hill.  The only thing wrong with this romantic meet up is that Janay had no idea how to snowboard!  You know you have found LOVE when the dude takes time out of his snowboarding day when the powder is “epic” to help his future wife down the mountain.  Although their first year of dating was long distance, their love continued to grow and Janay’s snowboarding continued to get better 😉  Now 6 years later and a beautiful son between them, they are on their way to many more years of laughter, Gorilla Costumes, and snowboard trips!

No words can describe how amazing this wedding was…I guess if you knew Janay and Rory, describing them would be pretty close to how I would describe this day!  It was full of horsing around, bull riding, costumes and of course a “Shot Bar” and “Margarita Bar”.  Rory and Janay are known for their sense of humor and carefree approach to life.  It was an honor to be invited as a guest but most importantly invited to capture this amazing day and witness the fun loving vows they gave.  I have to admit, I did chock back a few tears when I saw Janay come down the stairs with her father to the song “Marry Me” by Train.  She looked so beautiful and watching their son, Jeramy, and Rory wait for her at the alter was just touching.  It doesn’t surprise me that I am getting emotional just typing this, as weddings on TV have me running to the kleenex box!  I am getting so emotional with age, but I think it is to my advantage at weddings cuz I am in the moment and just feel IT!  The details of the day were AMAZING!  Holland Ranch is a rustic venue complete with a field of  horses, a windmill, a man made lake and of course a huge barn filled with vintage beer signs and an old saloon inspired stage.  The venue needs little to no decorations, but I absolutely LOVED the handmade signs done on Etsy, the Bridesmaids purses made on Etsy, and of course the handmade Vow book made on…Yes, you guessed it Etsy!  Janay and I have a hidden obsession for that site and for good reason!  Her creativity really shined through with her idea of herding people to their tables with guests’ names on barn animal cutouts.  Of course there was a shark as Janay is obsessed with Shark Week!  One of the many highlights of the evening was Rory’s performance of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” by the Rolling Stones, and let me tell you…this was American Idol final round quality!!

Like I said earlier, words can’t describe this wedding…well, except for the words used here, but there are much better words out there, I promise!  Love you guys!

You remember Erin and Kevin from their Seaside bluff wedding in May with close friends and family?  Well I had the privilege of coming to their Reception in July at Pomar Junction in Templeton, Ca and it was a BLAST!  The setting was absolutely beautiful, and as you remember Erin is absolutely gorgeous!  My camera loves her 🙂  She had the greatest idea and had her original wedding dress hemmed to a cocktail length party dress and turned the original veil into a very chic hair piece!  So clever!  It was a college reunion for me as I got to see really good friends that I hadn’t seen in forever!  It was so much fun photographing them like we were back at a college party…this party was nothing like a college party however, it was way better of course!  The food was amazing BBQ, and the blue grass band was the perfect background soundtrack to this country chic party.  My husband Matt was invited too, which was great!   So of course when the time came for some sunset pics I handed him my 70-200 zoom and we went to work!  He has such a great eye…I wish I could convince him to fall in love with photography and be my partner on and off the field…but you can’t force love 😉  Anyway, we had so much fun at Erin and Kevin’s reception and we even boogied the night away under the stars when Erin insisted I put down the camera!  Oh did I mention the photo booth?  Matt and I had a little too much fun with that!  Those pictures will have to wait for another day 🙂 It has been so much fun photographing this very loving and playful couple, after 3 shoots with them now, I might just have withdrawals!  Here is a montage of the beautiful day.
