After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

Sarah and John know how to throw a party…and a wedding 🙂 I should have known from the second Sarah told me she was from New Orleans, that it was going to be a wedding to remember! We had just returned form New Orleans two weeks before their wedding to celebrate our 10 year anniversary! It was our first time there and we were instantly in love with the city! There was so much culture and the live music and food was the best we’d experienced in all our U.S. travels! I was sooo excited to see that they were incorporating some of this culture into their wedding day! As they walked down the aisle as newlyweds, all the guests waved white scarves, while a brass band played a celebratory song. All the guests danced their way from their seats all the way to cocktail hour! It was an amazing moment that totally set the tone for the rest of the night. A HUGE dance party! The reception was cocktail style so the guests could dance all night and take breaks for food and drinks whenever they wanted. I LOVED every second of it! Another highlight was Sarah’s son, who was incredibly adorable! I couldn’t take enough photos of him 🙂 Congrats Sarah & John!

Classica & Greg said their vows at the beautiful Vintner’s Inn in Santa Rosa, Ca with a beautiful vineyard backdrop. It was such a joy to capture their wedding day because they are always laughing and smiling in each other’s presence, which was totally infectious ’cause I caught myself grinning ear to ear as I photographed them. It was fun to witness the way their love for each other poured out through their smiles. One of my favorite moments from their wedding was photographing them in the vineyards during sunset. They were freshly married and completely on cloud 9 as they held each other. I am so excited to share this blog from their wonderful wedding! Congrats to Classica & Greg (and your adorable dog Chopper!)

Congrats to Ashley & Eric! Their day was filled with so much beauty and love. They were married at Vintner’s Inn, one of my faves and one that never EVER disappoints! The place is oozing with charm and whimsy and I must add incredible sunsets! Ashley and Eric’s golden hour happened during dinner and getting all the way to the vineyard in heels at this point was not gonna happen for Ashley…which I totally get! I am only good for 45 minutes in heels! So I literally took them to where the sun was setting just a hundred yards away tucked behind the parking lot…I had no idea what I would find, but I stumbled upon the Holy Grail of hidden gems…Maybe it was the lighting or maybe it was the natural high I was on from photographing this amazing couple, but I’m pretty sure the garden was magical. Golden Hour is officially Magical Hour at Vintner’s Inn in my book.

One of my favorite parts of their day was the ceremony. It was filled with happy tears from siblings, parents, relatives and friends…and of course Eric when he saw his gorgeous bride for the first time walking down the aisle. I love tears on wedding days because that is the way I express over flowing happiness as well…(Cheerio commercials and proposal stories get me every time ). There is nothing better than capturing unfiltered emotion and I am so excited to share the story of their day through images!

Ashley and Eric first met Freshman year at Sonoma State as they were neighbors in the dorms.  They had a lot of mutual friends and hung out a lot their first year. Although they both had crushes on each other, they remained friends all through college…that is until Ashley was about to graduate.  They both realized that they could no longer remain JUST friends and took their relationship to the next level. They began to date and were together for just under 4 years when Eric took her to Maui.  They went for a walk and just as it was starting to rain, Eric popped the question.  It turns out he couldn’t have chosen a more perfect Hawaiian time to propose as the locals believed rain to be a sign of good luck!

What do you get when you mix the sweetest couple ever, with a female bunny named Todd, and gold buttery light?  The BEST Shoot EVER!!  That’s right, Ashley was in search of the perfect pet and when a friend suggested a bunny she immediately responded to a Craigslist post.  For the longest time she thought her bunny was a male…until she realized he was indeed a she.  Her name stuck and now she is the cutest bunny there ever was named Todd!  I had never been to Rhonert Park in Santa Rosa and was so glad they suggested this location!  It had oak trees, streams, endless fields and rolling hills…and a spectacular sunset!  I am so excited to share their blog!  They were so easy to photograph!  I swear they were models in another life!
