After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

They first met each other about six years ago. Katey’s friend Barbara had been trying to set Katey up with Brian for several weeks as she had a hunch they would be a perfect match. Eventually Brian called Katey and asked her to have lunch down at the Ferry Building. They hit it off and the rest is history!

While it was grey skies and frigid temperatures on the day of Katey and Brian’s engagement session, they were all smiles as they walked up to our location, and their connection was immediately apparent. We hopped around to a few different locations including The Legion of Honor and Sutro Baths and navigated around the weekend tourists. I genuinely enjoyed the experience of getting to know who they are as a couple, and how they love one another, and cannot wait to capture their wedding day in April!

Casey and Janelle’s proposal story is EXACTLY the reason why I am obsessed with what I do for a living! I get to hear amazing love stories, get to know the couple behind the story, then capture it all in action!

Their engagement story started on a Friday morning, when Casey suggested they play hookie from work. Of course Janelle resisted as it was going to be a busy day at the office. However, Casey finally convinced her by reassuring her that he had cleared it with her boss. As they drove to wine country Casey’s voice started to come on through the speakers! It was him rapping to all his favorite 90’s rap songs. Janelle was dying cuz she has been asking him to do this for her for YEARS! Casey only raps when he lets loose and it is a side of him that she loves. For some reason I immediately pictured Vanilla Ice, 2 Pac and Bone Thugs! Oh man, the 90’s were amazing! Anyhoo, this was a major hint that something special was about to happen.

When they arrived at Calistoga Ranch, Casey gave her a brand new pair of hiking shoes so she would be well equipped for the hike he was about to take her on. At about 95% of the way to the top, Casey told her to stop and turn around at which point he blindfolded her for what felt like eternity. If other hikers would have seen her they would have called 911 to report a kidnapping! When Casey finally came back to take off the blindfold he turned Janelle around to find the remainder of the trail covered in red and white rose petals. They walked together to the end of the trail to see an amazing view but the best view of all was seeing Casey asking her to be his bride!

He first spotted her at a work meeting.  He was the Sacramento rep and she was the San Francisco rep for the same company so their encounter was destined to happen.  George knew instantly that Alexis was something special and although they had quickly become “work besties,” he spent the next year pursuing her.  Alexis wouldn’t go on a date with him because he was younger, lived too far away, and because they worked together.  When she finally did say yes to dating him, their first date couldn’t have been more perfect!  It started with a bouquet of flowers and a bag full of all her favorite candy and junk food (which he knew from their work meetings).  He then took her to their favorite Greek restaurant, Kokkari, and for the grand finale ended the date at a club where they hung out in the DJ booth all night, (which, duh, is the way to her heart)…but let’s be real, any date that starts with flowers and ends in a DJ booth will most likely lead to a proposal 🙂

If you don’t know this beautiful lady, then you probably know someone that does!  Why?  Cuz she is the type of person that is so easy to like and become besties with.  Alexis (aka Kach) and I go back all the way to high school when we went to rival high schools and played volleyball against each other.  They always beat us, but we didn’t make it easy…it still stings a little today!  We both ended up going to Cal Poly (woot woot!) and today have returned to our rival roots battling every year for the 1st place title in our Fantasy Football league.  Unfortunately Kach is about to secure the championship title for the 3rd time in like 8 years, which is obviously not ok! 😉

It is no wonder that such a beauty inside and out has found her perfect match in George.  A standup guy who makes you feel like you are instant friends from the word “hi!” It was so much fun getting to know him during the shoot and I can tell by the way he looks at her that he is completely smitten!  I was so honored to be able to do their engagement photos and wish them the most amazing wedding day ever! (Insert Super-Sad face that I am not available to shoot it)
