After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

Oh, these two!  They have a chemistry & such a cute playfulness that I literally could not stop taking their photo!  Luckily I was their photographer, so it was totally allowed.   They were  married in seriously one of the most gorgeous cathedrals that I have photographed.  It was the perfect setting to witness so much love (& tears) pour out from all their friends and family as Jillian walked down the long aisle toward Karl.  I took one look at Karl, looking at Jillian & I nearly lost it, like when I lost it watching that one scene in Titanic.  I just loved their fall colors of cranberry, blush, and gold!  It came together so perfectly at The Mountain Winery!  I had so much fun getting to know these two and couldn’t be more thrilled for all the exciting changes in store for them.  They literally moved to the Bay Area from NY a couple days before the wedding!!  I can’t imagine how crazy that must have been, but I am so excited they will be so much closer now!  I would also like to do a shout out to the hilarious bridal party who kept me entertained and laughing the whole time.  You guys were great and you should have had a tip jar handy.

Here is a little snap shot of the day!  Enjoy and congrats #Jarl!!

And this is where everyone lost it…including myself of course!  Always thankful I can hide behind my camera.

It was simply insane natural light…like the light you get in Hawaii just after a light sprinkle, or right before the sun peeks out.  I was DYING!

I never really considered myself an emotional person.  That is, until recently.  Something about being 30 has weakened my strength to hold back the flood gates.  It is not unusual for me to get that choked up feeling when the bride is walking down the aisle with her father.  I dreamed of my father walking me down the aisle my whole life and when it actually happened the moment couldn’t have been more perfect.  Kelly and Joel’s wedding however, brought out a whole new level of emotions for me that I have yet to display at a wedding.  I am not ashamed of it.  The amazing, pure, unconditional love that I witnessed throughout the day was such a blessing to be a part of.  The way Joel looks at Kelly and even speaks about her when she is not around should be the standard for what every woman deserves.  I wasn’t going into the “getting ready” shots expecting to cry.  But when Van from Ocean Blue Videography took a few minutes to ask Kelly what she loved about Joel the tears came.  Kelly was crying and I was in the corner of the room hiding my tears as she poured out her love for Joel.  I go

t to experience that same love all over again when Van asked Joel the same questions in his hotel room.  This time was the same, only Van was tearing up behind her video camera.  It was such a beautiful thing to experience and I know everyone who got to be there for those moments will always cherish them.  This is why I love my job.  I get to relive every couple’s unique and very special love story.

I have known Kelly since college.  She was a year ahead of me in school, but I remember always admiring her confidence, poise, and beauty.  I knew Kelly was going to make a gorgeous bride, but when I saw her for the first time in her dress I don’t think the word ‘gorgeous’ could have done her justice.  It is no wonder that tears came when Joel saw her for the first time walking down the aisle.  Congratulations Kelly and Joel!   And if you ever need a side gig, you could be bride and groom models!  Thanks again for giving me the great honor to capture your wedding day!

P.S.  If you have have the option to get a smoke machine for the dancing at your wedding, Do It!  That reception was AWESOME!

A special thanks to Wade, my second shooter, for all his awesome shots, taking care of the guys, and having an extra flash when mine broke right before the grand entrance!  I am now the proud owner of a backup flash!

Right before the kiss the minister said, “Joel, set the standard for how every woman should be kissed! You may kiss your bride!”  He nailed it! 😉

Their wedding was at The Mountain Winery in Saratoga!  Beautiful venue with amazing views of the valley below!
