After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

Meet Avina! She is the beautiful daughter of my beautiful wedding couple Sara and Will! I did their wedding a couple years ago and seeing them again as proud parents was a pleasure! I absolutely LOVE taking photos of my couples and their new babies because I get to see them in a new light. And these two are naturals at parenting! After spending an hour in their home photographing Avina, I can honestly say she is a little baby genius! She communicates on demand! She claps, stomps her feet, blows kisses, waves, throws her hands in the air like she just don’t care, and even eats cake like a lady! haha! Did I mention she walks? No? She walks. She is just too darn cute ya’ll! Check out some photos from her 1 year old session!

Rebecca & Ricky were married at Leal Vineyards in Hollister, Ca. It turned out to be a gorgeous day despite the threat of rain. I always love shooting at Leal because of the beautiful grounds and the gorgeous barrel room! I typically meet couples for the first time at our booking meeting, then totally bond with them on another level at the engagement shoot, and then we are pretty much besties by the time we ‘hang out’ at their wedding. It unfolded entirely differently with these two as I met them for the 1st time at their wedding. The crazy thing was that I instantly felt like I was best friends with Rebecca and her crew. They were so funny and I found myself laughing as I was shooting. My 2nd shooter was with Ricky and she reported back the same experience! I can see why they have so many friends! We had a blast at the wedding and capturing so many special moments! I am so excited to share these images from their wedding. I do hope our paths cross again!

It was butterflies at first sight. Marika met Michael back in 2012 when she flew to Ohio from California to visit family. He was best friends with her Godbrother so he was always around. The first time she met him she knew immediately that he was someone special even though Michael does not recall that first meeting. haha! However, the 2nd day he vividly remembers meeting her because that is when he realized Marika was someone special too. They hung out every day of her trip and when she flew back home, Michael was left wondering if his strong feelings for her were reciprocated. Marika couldn’t stop thinking about him as well and reached out to him via Facebook. She invited him out to California expecting him to say ‘no’, but to her glorious surprise, he accepted her invite and they had a full week of dates together. Saying goodbye would be too hard after the amazing week together so they started dating long distance for the next FOUR years! People…that is a long time! This is such a testament to their love for each other and commitment to hold on to the hope that one day they would live in the same city. When the stars finally aligned, Michael drove out to Cali to be with his Girl. A year later, he planned an extravagant scavenger hunt from Marin to San Francisco with the final clue landing her at the Tulip Gardens by the beach. He was waiting for her on one knee with a gold ring and a very important question to ask. “Will you marry me?”

These two are clearly best friends and share a deep bond. They were a hoot to photograph and hang out with. I let couples choose their own route during engagement sessions. In other words, they can make the session anything they want it to be and these two chose the young, wild, and free route…my personal fave 🙂 . There was lots of twirling, jumping, laughing, splashing, and goofing. Loved every second of it!

Greg was in the military and was stationed in New Jersey where Classica was from.  When they met, sparks flew and they instantly fell for each other.  Unfortunately, Greg’s service would be up soon and he was headed back to California where he was from.  After he moved, they each attempted to move on too.  But their bond was too strong and it wasn’t until Classica finished school that she had a big decision to make…stay in New Jersey to find work or take a chance and move to California and pick up where she and Greg left off.  She followed her heart, and like a true gentleman he reassured her that she had made the right decision by proposing to her two months later at their favorite spot at Lake Sonoma. I love their story and love their undeniable connection!  They are truly smitten with each other and photographing them I could just feel their chemistry.  In fact, I think all these moments still would have happened between them in this open field with their dog Chopper without me there! These two are the cutest and I am so excited for their upcoming wedding!
