After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

These two found me through Martin’s cousin, whose wedding I did a couple years back. Martin was the officiant at their Olympic Club wedding, so he and Kathleen were familiar faces when we met to talk about their upcoming wedding. I was super excited to photograph their wedding as I had become quite fond of the Gilson Family and now totally smitten by Kathleen and Martin! They are the perfect match as they complement each other’s personalities so well…and I must add, both hilarious in their own ways! They planned the most epic San Francisco wedding I have ever had the privilege of photographing! They got ready at the Lodge at the Presidio, were married under the iconic rotunda at the Palace of Fine Arts, and had the reception at the legendary San Francisco Film Centre. It was literally a day like no other from start to finish! My favorite part of the day was photographing them under the rotunda and watching her veil take flight! It never once flew off to my surprise, but it sure did make for some fun photos! I am so excited to share these images from their special day!

I am so incredibly excited to share this gorgeous San Francisco wedding on my blog!  It had it all…including fog and a sunset no one saw coming!  The Olympic Club in San Francisco was the perfect setting for Christina & Ron’s black tie affair.  The venue is at one of SF’s most famous private golf clubs and offers breathtaking views from a bluff overlooking the ocean as well as a ceremony site with floor to ceiling windows.  It is one of my favorite places to photograph weddings.  Christina and Ron were a dream to work with!  I love that I got to be at their rehearsal dinner the night before as well!  One of my favorite moments of their wedding day was when they opened the dance floor to all the Father-Daughter duos in attendance.  To my surprise there were at least 20 of them on the dance floor.  It was so great to see fathers and daughters of all ages enjoying a dance together with Christina and her father.  I absolutely loved getting to know these two and hope our paths cross again soon!  Here are some of my favorite images from there day below…

Marjorie and Rob met on Halloween a couple of years ago in all their crazy costumed glory, so it is only fitting that they celebrate their marriage on the anniversary of that fateful night. Because they already had a ceremony earlier in the year, they wanted to throw a fun party for friends and family complete with a 10 course meal and a candy bar.  That is my kind of party!  They had their reception at Crystal Jade rooftop restaurant which had sweeping views of The Embarcadero that only got more breathtaking as the night progressed.  When the dance party started all the crazy masks came out.  It was such a great night and I am so excited for all the exciting adventures to come for Marjorie & Rob!

Just when I thought I had heard all the romantic proposal stories there were to hear, Marjorie goes and drops her Nicholas Sparks-esque proposal story on me!  All I could do was lift my jaw off the floor and ask for more details!  But first some background. They met through a couple of mutual friends, which is always most of the time a recipe for success when it comes to finding love, especially if your friends thinks highly of you 😉  Rob first noticed Marjorie at their mutual friend’s dinner party, but didn’t get a chance to talk to her unfortunately.  But have no fear, Halloween was approaching and her name was on the guest list of people who would be attending his party! Let’s face it, if that Modern Dracula costume doesn’t give you the confidence needed to strike up a conversation with the Shanky Prisoner you’ve had your eye on, then nothing will.  Let’s just say Dracula and the Prisoner hit it off that night with no blood shed.  And thus began their love story…which leads me back to where we started.  After a year and a half of dating he took her to a nice dinner.  No, he did not propose in the middle of the restaurant with the ring hidden in her dessert.  When they got home she walked into what looked like a fantasy suite for The Bachelor complete with hundreds of candles flickering their soft glow on every last flower he could get his hands on in San Francisco.  You name it, that flower was in her apartment.  The romance of it all just makes me so giddy!  I saw a video of the room with my own eyes and it looked out of this world!  Right there in the middle of a candle lit secret garden he asked her to be his wife.  She. Said. Yes!

That’s where I get to come in!  I was chosen to shoot their upcoming wedding in October! They wanted to do a formal engagement session slash pre wedding photos so we went to The Legion of Honor, Lover’s Lane in the Presidio, and the grand finale at Treasure Island for some city skyline shots.  I got to ride in the car to all the locations with Marjorie and I am pretty sure we are Bffs now 🙂  These two are so fun to hang with and obviously a perfect match!  Oh, and let’s not forget their playful and adorable dog Dotsy, who wore a flower crown for the occasion!
