It was the most beautiful day all year…it was March 3, 2012 and one of the most amazing couples I have ever met was getting married. Kristal and Matt are like onions…not cuz they make me cry, but because the more I get to know them, the more I have come to realize that they are not only an amazing couple, but they have very kind hearts. I am so excited to continue to pull back the layers (metaphorically speaking) and hang out with them lots more in the future! I was introduced to them through a good friend and was so excited that they had chosen me to capture their wedding. I LOVED Kristal from the second I spoke with her on the phone and then when I met her for the first time at my 30th birthday party, I knew we were destined to be friends! In the few moments I was able to chat with her husband Matt on the wedding day, I realized that Kristal had truly found her perfect match as he too is one of the nicest people EVER!
Kristal and Matt got married at Corpus Christi Church in Piedmont, Ca and had their reception at the very cool Chabot Space and Science Center in Oakland! Coolest venue ever! They had their first dance under the stars of the space center! How cool is that? Their theme was inspired by the San Jose Sharks Hockey Team, which is totally appropriate cuz Matt is apparently the only goalie in the bay area that has never been scored on! Well, not sure if that is true, but I’ll tell you this much I don’t know if it is not not true…He dawned Shark socks and the girls had bouquets with pops of turquoise in them. The icing on the cake (literally) was the cake topper which was Kristal in a nurse outfit (her occupation) scoring a goal on Matt (the goalie)…wait…I guess Kristal is the first to score! One of my favorite details came in the Party Favors. Kristal and Matt donated money to support St. Jude Children’s hospital to help the millions of kids with life threatening diseases. It takes one million dollars a day to keep the facility running as they do not turn anyone way for any reason. It truly is a worthy cause and is just another reason why I feel so blessed to know such giving people. They are hoping to get into the Peace Corps soon and I just know they will make a difference wherever they end up
I had so much fun at the wedding and enjoyed every second of photographing this beautiful couple. See the last few photos to see exactly how much fun I had…I promise I was off the clock 😉
LOVE this picture taken by my second shooter Wade. I love the motion blur that really tells the story of the excitement and nervousness they must have been feeling as they rushed to the limo to take them to the church!
One of my favorite moments of the night. They wanted to really LIVE in the moment and soak up the fact that all their friends and family were there to celebrate their marriage so they had everyone cheer on the count of 3…and I swear my eyes are watering as I type this, the room BLEW up with the shouts of a sold out championship hockey game. That was the sound of love and it sent goosebumps up my spine. It was the first time I really felt in the moment at any wedding I had ever been to.  It was surreal. Perfect.
This is what happens when you put an off the clock photographer in a photo booth with her best friends…ghetto happens! I ain’t mad at it…
ok, so I might have taken it too far 😉
