It was New Year’s Eve and Mike intended on bringing in the new year with a ‘ring’. Not just any ring, but the kind that comes in a small turquoise box with a white ribbon. He had been carrying this box with him everywhere in fear that Michele might find the shiny bling that rested inside of it. As NYE approached, they decided to take it easy on December 31st so they worked out, picked up some dinner, and had Michele’s best friend over. Her friend, knowing the proposal was coming at midnight, suggested they paint their nails. Michele was non the wiser. Around 11:30pm her friend left which was very odd to Michele but she just assumed that she wanted to avoid NYE traffic. As the New York ball dropped and the clock struck midnight it was just the two of them sharing their first kiss of 2015. Mike knew this was the most perfect moment to ask his best friend to be his forever. He slyly reached under the couch where the ring was hiding and on one knee said, “Michele, the first thing I wanted to do this year was to ask you to marry me. Will you marry me?” Shocked and flustered she said, “Whaaaaat!?” and immediately said, “Yes!” It was the best New Years they could have ever asked for!
For their engagement session we took a stroll along the bustling Embarcadero, which I must add is one of my top 5 all time favorite places to photograph! I mean, you get the piers, the cute old fashioned train cars, Cupid’s Arrow, and other little nooks and crannies that you’d miss if you blinked. No matter where you look the backdrop looks like a painted canvas. It was a cold and cloudy day…you know a typical late spring day in SF, which I think added to the perfectness (not a word, but it should be) of this shoot! I especially loved how Michele’s bright red pea coat popped against the gray sky! These two were up for anything, so anything and everything is what we did! Most importantly I love how they got excited when I would suggest outrageous “posing” activities! Check out our fun day together!
