After 'I Do'

Hello! My name is Heather and I am so happy you stopped by! This blog is a place where I will share love stories of amazing couples who I had the honor of photographing. It is a place where I can express my passion with images where my words fall short. Photography has changed my life drastically and I am so thankful that God has blessed me with this gift. I wish I could say the same thing about my singing voice, but what can you do?!

Welcome!

This was an emotional day from start to finish with so many happy tears. I loved being a part of Ria & Josh’s wedding and capturing the beauty that comes along with such a powerful love. One of my many favorite memories from the day was watching Josh, as his bride walked down the aisle towards him.

Even though he had seen her moments prior for photos, he was overtaken emotionally by this powerful moment. I always tell couples who are debating on whether or not they should do a first look, the same thing. NOTHING takes away from that moment, because in all reality, you are seeing her for the first time in a new light. You are seeing her as your wife and partner for life. I don’t think there was a person in attendance who was not moved by their ceremony. It was such fun capturing a wedding as if it were 2019! There was dancing, games, lots of laughter…and dare I say, hugs!? Congrats Josh and Ria!

Danielle & Matt will always have a special place in my heart! It was my “Coming Back” wedding after a year and a half of not photographing a single wedding due to Covid. They had to postpone their date TWICE! The stress of the unknown they experienced with grace is admirable for sure. But in the end, their day…THE day, couldn’t have gone any better! I could tell from the constant smiles and laughter from Danielle and Matt that they were on cloud 9 being able to finally celebrate their marriage with all their friends and family.

There are some special details I have to mention, like the dress…It took my breath away when I saw it hanging in the bridal suite. Layer upon layer of tulle, each with a different wow factor. Some layers had lace appliques, while others were covered in a subtle gold glitter pattern. I also just love how the lace around the neck looked like a gorgeous piece of jewelry framing her neckline. It was a 9 month collaboration with her designer to make her dress-dreams a reality. Another detail that was a vision come to life, was the orchid and floral chandelier that they said their vows beneath. A total masterpiece by Wine Country Flowers and a dream come true for Danielle. See images below. I am so thankful for getting to be a part of this special day! I hope you enjoy the photos!

Well, it is incredibly hard to imagine that this was my first photo shoot in 13 months due to Covid AND giving birth to twin baby boys! With most of my 2019 weddings getting pushed to 2020 everything seemed very uncertain. But, boy did it feel good to be back out there doing what brings me so much joy! Don’t get me wrong, I LOOOOVE being a mom and caring for our kids, but holy cow…a girl needs her ME time! It’s been a loooong 9 months of surviving 4 kids, 4 and under, during a pandemic, with zero personal time or outlets. I swear, I went through all the phases of grief with photography, wondering if I’d ever shoot another wedding. I needed this engagement session like like a flower needs water. A part of myself that I had put on the back-burner, came back to life when I met this amazing couple for their engagement session!

Caroline and Corbett arrived to Baker Beach looking like they had just stepped out of a catalog. Such a beautiful couple! They both had such warm smiles and I knew instantly that kindness and love were weaved into the fabric of who they are. Making them even more amazing, was that they were game for anything I threw their way even if it meant getting soaked in the ocean…which was purely nature’s fault…and kinda mine ūüėČ I could tell they were having so much fun together and really living in the moment. I never would have guessed that this care-free couple had a huge amount of stress on their plate, wondering if their upcoming March wedding would take place. It warmed my heart to receive their email filled with gratitude explaining that the photo shoot had brought them so much joy and gave them a chance to celebrate their engagement in a way they had not been able to do yet. I loved every second of it too, and cannot wait to see you guys again at your wedding!

They first met each other about six years ago. Katey’s friend Barbara had been trying to set Katey up with Brian for several weeks as she had a hunch they would be a perfect match. Eventually Brian called Katey and asked her to have lunch down at the Ferry Building. They hit it off and the rest is history!

While it was grey skies and frigid temperatures on the day of Katey and Brian’s engagement¬†session, they were all smiles as they walked up to our location, and their connection was immediately apparent. We hopped around to a few different locations including The Legion of Honor and Sutro Baths and navigated around the weekend tourists. I genuinely enjoyed the experience of getting to know¬†who¬†they are as a couple, and¬†how¬†they love one another, and cannot wait to capture their wedding day in April!
