As I type this, Tahsin is probably unpacking her bags in their new Chicago apartment. Â She and Reid started doing long distance between Chicago and California when he received a great job offer and moved. Â With it came tears, confusion, and big decisions to be made no doubt. Â They were meant to be together and so very much in love. Â Why wait for marriage then? Â They immediately got engaged and were married several months later. Â They would now be able to be together in Chicago as a married couple and respect their families’ values. Â Capturing their wedding was such a gift. Â Not only do both come from amazing families, but witnessing the beautiful traditions of a Muslim wedding gave me much insight to that religion and culture. Â The brides typically wear a deep cherry red color gown with a veil that covers their head, shoulders and back. Â Tahsin entered the ceremony under a veil she wore at the previous night’s festivities held up by family. Â She and Reid then sat on the couch with 2 witnesses where Tahsin and Reid were asked if they agreed to marry each other. Â It was fascinating as it was not only my first time photographing an Indian wedding, but also my first time attending one. Â I never knew what was going to happen next, which made it that much more captivating.
Tahsin looked so beautiful with her henna tattooed on her hands and forearms, which I understand takes 4 hours to complete. Â Her gown was hand embroidered with beads and was customized in India just weeks ago. Â Reid looked dashing in his ivory brocade suit provided to him by the bride’s family. Â They looked so great together! Â I just loved the rich jewel tone colors and the wedding cake topper that was a replica of Tahsin and Reid!
Thanks so much for the experience of capturing your wedding day! Â I wish you warmth this winter in Chicago and many fun adventures together!
